We > Me

1. Welcome & Connection

  • Have everyone share a highlight and a challenge from their week.

  • Follow-up: Last week we ended by asking what God was leading you to do. Did you take a step toward that? How did it go?

2. Engage with the Message

  • What stood out to you from this week's message?

  • Was there a specific scripture, quote, or idea that challenged or encouraged you?

3. Dive Into Scripture

  • Have someone read the main passage(s) aloud.

Ecclesiastes 4:7–12 (NLT)

7 I observed yet another example of something meaningless under the sun.

8 This is the case of a man who is all alone, without a child or a brother, yet who works hard to gain as much wealth as he can. But then he asks himself, “Who am I working for? Why am I giving up so much pleasure now?” It is all so meaningless and depressing.

9 Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.

10 If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.

11 Likewise, two people lying close together can keep each other warm. But how can one be warm alone?

12 A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.

  • What does this passage reveal about God?

  • What does it reveal about humanity?

4. Reflect on Discipleship Focus

  • Follow Jesus: How can you practice deeper trust in your relationships, knowing that "two people are better off than one" (Ecclesiastes 4:9)?

  • Be Changed by Jesus: In what ways do you need to allow Jesus to transform your habits of isolation, as seen in Ecclesiastes 4:8?

  • On Mission with Jesus: How can you actively support someone in your community this week, following the principle that "if one person falls, the other can reach out and help" (Ecclesiastes 4:10)?

5. Pray & Apply

  • What is God asking your next step of application to be this week? Pray together for each other's application.

  • Christmas is coming soon and VRL has 11 services to make attending easy for new people. At service, we were challenged with “Who’s your 3?”. Who are the three people you are going to commit to praying for and inviting to one of our 11 Christmas services? Share those three names with your group.

  • Leader Note: Write down the application/prayer for everyone to reference next week.
