Which everyday scenario tests your mercy the most: traffic, customer service lines, or group texts?
📖 Read:
Micah 6:8
Luke 10:25-37
❓Ask:
When have you struggled with showing mercy to someone because you felt they didn't deserve it?
In Luke 10, Samaritans were hated by Jews and considered impure, yet Jesus made the Samaritan the hero who showed true mercy while religious leaders passed by. Who are the "Samaritans" in our society today - people we might be prejudiced against but who could teach us about showing mercy?
Pastor Jason said "mercy moves toward the broken." The Samaritan saw, felt, and went to help - three key action words that demonstrate how mercy requires active movement toward those in need. What are some practical ways we can actively move toward helping others rather than avoiding difficult situations?
What situations or people have you been avoiding that God might be calling you to move toward?
Foster the City has placed over 1,000 kids in homes but 232 children still need placement in Santa Clara county. How does the foster care crisis described in the sermon represent an opportunity for Christians to show mercy? What holds people back from getting involved? What steps could you personally take to support foster children or families in your community?
The Samaritan was taking an urgent journey but still stopped to help. What makes you most hesitant to be interrupted by others' needs, and how might God be asking you to change that?
