🗣️ WK 4: Chasing the Wind

😄 Warm Up

  • Have you ever felt like you’re chasing something that just feels out of reach? How?

📖 Read:

  • Ecclesiastes 2:17-26
  • Matthew 6:19-34

❓Ask:

  • Solomon, despite being the wisest and wealthiest person of his time, found that pursuing pleasure, wealth, and achievements left him feeling empty. Why do you think
even having everything wasn't enough for him?
  • In what ways do you see people today trying to find fulfillment in the same things Solomon pursued?
  • What things in your own life have you pursued thinking they would bring fulfillment, only to find they left you feeling empty?
  • Pastor Filipe mentioned three steps to finding true fulfillment: Acknowledge the Struggle, Shift Your Perspective, and Surrender Control. Which of these steps do you find most challenging and why?
  • The sermon contrasted Solomon's perspective in Ecclesiastes with Jesus' teachings in Matthew 6. How does Jesus' teaching about not storing up treasures on earth address the emptiness Solomon experienced?
  • Where in your life might you be storing up earthly treasures instead of heavenly ones?
  • Solomon concluded in Ecclesiastes 2:24-25 that even basic pleasures like food and drink are from God's hand, and nothing can be truly enjoyed apart from Him. What's the difference between enjoying good things with God versus pursuing them apart from Him?
  • What would be the first step for you to chase after God this week?

🙏Prayer:

Share pray requests and pray:

  • Ask God to reveal areas in our lives where we are "chasing the wind" and help us to surrender them to Him.
  • Pray for the wisdom to shift our perspective and see our circumstances through God's eyes.
  • Seek courage to surrender control and trust God’s plan over our own.
  • Request strength to make God the primary focus in our lives this week.
